Horizons #2: Regal Princess

Regal Princess, the new flagship of Princess Cruises fleet owned by the Carnival group, was delivered last month at Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard.

Somec delivered for Regal Princess, as for sister vessel Royal Princess, all the glazing for cabins and public areas, ranging from balcony sliding doors, balustrades and dividers to upper decks windscreens, skylights and restaurants continuous glass walls.
Among Somec’s realizations on board of Royal and Regal Princess, the Seawalk on deck 16 and the fire resistant glazing on deck 7 stand out for their peculiarity.
The Seawalk, a walk-way hovering 40 meters above sea level and extending 8 meters beyond the ship side, is characterised by an all-glass effect with a transparent floor and trapezoidal shaped glasses on side walls.
The glass floor is realized with a triple laminated glass, where the top glass is walkable with anti-slip treatment.  All the floor glasses have been designed according to “reinforced safety” principle.
The Crooners Lounge & Bar as well as Facets shop located respectively on portside and starboardside of deck 7, feature an A0 class fire-resistant glazing,  one of Somec’s several fire-proof certified systems.
